Luxury Safari Lodge – Thabazimbi – Limpopo
An exciting permanent opportunity is available for a qualified Field Guide to join a luxury safari lodge in Thabazimbi. The successful candidate will guide guests on foot and by vehicle, delivering safe, informative and memorable safari experiences. The role also supports Safari Management with departmental administration, operational standards and the mentorship and leadership of fellow guides.
Job Description & Requirements:
- Conduct professional game drives and interpretive bush walks in accordance with FGASA standards and the lodge’s guiding culture.
- Complete guest introductions and safety orientations before safari activities.
- Track wildlife, identify spoor and share engaging information about ecology, conservation and the operating area.
- Host drinks stops, bush events, family activities and age-appropriate safari experiences for children.
- Remain available for scheduled drives, back-up drives and stand-by duties as required.
- Practise proficient, responsible and safe weapon handling at all times.
- Assist with the administration and daily operation of the Guides and Safari Department.
- Help maintain safari vehicles, guiding equipment and departmental assets.
- Support the mentorship, development and leadership of other field guides.
- Assist with emergencies and evacuations, including medical incidents, fires and floods.
- Gather guest information before arrival and communicate preferences to Management.
- Report guest concerns or complaints to the relevant Head of Department immediately.
- Contribute relevant and engaging wildlife content to the lodge’s social media platforms.
- Level 2 Full Trails Guide qualification is essential.
- FGASA Nature Site Guide NQF4 and Trails Guide qualifications are essential.
- ARH, Rifle Proficiency, First Aid Level 1, a valid driver’s licence and Pr-DP are required.
- Previous Field Guide experience at a luxury safari lodge is essential.
- Sound knowledge of applicable guiding procedures and FGASA standards is required.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, time management, hygiene and attention to detail.
- Be guest-focused, proactive, emotionally controlled and able to use initiative.
- Work positively within a team while remaining adaptable, dependable and solution-oriented.
- Show professionalism, integrity and respect while creating meaningful experiences for guests, colleagues and communities.

- Salary: R12,000.00 – R15,000.00
