An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Trails Guide to join a professional guiding team in the world-renowned Madikwe Game Reserve. This role is ideal for a passionate conservation-minded guide who enjoys delivering exceptional guest experiences while leading walking safaris and sharing knowledge of the bushveld, wildlife, ecology and local environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring guest safety, creating memorable wilderness experiences and maintaining the highest standards of guiding excellence. Strong communication skills, a passion for nature and a commitment to conservation are essential.
Job Description & Requirements:
- Conduct interpretive walking safaris and game drives in accordance with reserve and lodge procedures
- Deliver engaging wildlife, environmental and conservation-focused experiences
- Ensure guest safety at all times during trails and guiding activities
- Share detailed knowledge of fauna, flora, ecology, birdlife and animal behaviour
- Assist with lodge activities and guest hosting when required
- Carry out vehicle, equipment and trails-related checks
- Maintain professional guiding standards and reserve regulations
- Assist with conservation initiatives and environmental awareness programmes
- Build positive relationships with guests and colleagues
- Provide exceptional guest service and personalised safari experiences
- Valid Trails Guide qualification essential
- Relevant guiding certifications and permits required for conducting walking safaris
- Valid First Aid certification advantageous
- PDP and valid driver’s licence advantageous
- Strong wildlife knowledge and tracking ability preferred
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hospitality hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Physically fit and comfortable working in a remote bush environment
- Previous luxury lodge or reserve experience advantageous
- Passion for conservation, guest engagement and outdoor hospitality
