A leading Luxury Lodge Collection on the beautiful Garden Route is seeking an experienced Sommelier to join its award-winning hospitality team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a passionate wine professional who enjoys delivering world-class guest experiences while working in a luxury lodge environment. The successful Sommelier will create memorable dining experiences through expert wine recommendations, food pairing, cellar management, and staff training. This is a live-out position, therefore applicants must have their own reliable transport and be able to commute to the lodge daily.

Job Requirements

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Sommelier in a luxury lodge, hotel, or upmarket restaurant (Essential)
• Recognised Wine qualification such as Cape Wine Diploma, WSET Level 2, WSET Level 3, or equivalent (Essential)
• Extensive knowledge of local and international wines and food pairing
• Previous Hospitality and luxury guest service experience
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to conduct wine tastings and train hospitality staff
• Professional presentation with exceptional attention to detail
• Highly organised with excellent administrative skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings
• Ability to promote and sell wines for off-site consumption
• Valid driver’s licence with own reliable transport (Essential)

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver a personalised wine experience for every guest
• Recommend and pair wines with menus and guest preferences
• Host wine tastings and educational experiences
• Manage cellar stock, replenishment, transfers and inventory
• Handle invoicing, administration and bulk wine facilities
• Train and mentor staff on wine knowledge and service standards
• Work closely with all departments to deliver exceptional guest experiences

Package

• Salary dependent on experience and qualifications
• Commission on wine sales
