Job Requirements & Description
- Basic understanding of Afrikaans (essential)
- 2–3 years’ senior pastry chef experience in a 4/5‑star hospitality establishment (essential)
- Culinary qualification (beneficial)
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure
- Strong management skills and team leadership
- Knowledge of dietary requirements and food safety standards
- Excellent stock control and kitchen administration skills
- Energetic, upbeat personality
- Prepares and bakes breads, rolls, cakes, biscuits, desserts, and pastry goods
- Produces hot box snacks and tea‑time treats
- Ensures quality of raw materials and accurate ingredient measurement
- Coordinates baking processes from preparation to cooling
- Maintains portion control to minimize wastage
- Performs regular stock takes with the main kitchen
- Completes pastry kitchen administration accurately and timeously
- Enforces hygiene regulations and Health & Safety standards
