An exceptional opportunity is available for an experienced Lodge Manager to lead a prestigious luxury safari lodge in the Mara Region of Tanzania. This live-in position is ideally suited to a dynamic hospitality professional with a passion for guest service excellence, conservation, sustainable tourism, and operational leadership. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the overall management of the lodge, ensuring world-class guest experiences while maintaining high standards across operations, finance, maintenance, staff development, and sustainability initiatives.
This role requires a hands-on leader who can effectively manage a senior leadership team and inspire a larger operational workforce. The Lodge Manager will oversee all aspects of lodge performance, including budgeting, forecasting, procurement, infrastructure maintenance, IT systems, security, healthcare readiness, environmental health compliance, and government relations. Working closely with conservation partners and local stakeholders, the successful candidate will also play a key role in advancing sustainability objectives and community engagement initiatives.
Candidates should have proven experience managing luxury lodges or safari camps and possess a strong understanding of five-star hospitality standards. A genuine passion for delivering memorable guest experiences, developing teams, and maintaining operational excellence is essential. Job Requirements
- 3 to 5 years’ management experience within a 5-star boutique hospitality operation
- Previous lodge or safari camp management experience essential
- Hospitality and service training certification essential
- Fluent in English
- Strong financial management and budgeting abilities
- Advanced leadership and staff development skills
- Experience managing diverse teams
- Strong IT and administrative skills
- Maintenance experience advantageous
- Mobile camping and safari experience advantageous
- Passion for conservation and sustainable tourism
- Ability to travel between camps and lodges
Job Description
- Manage all lodge operations and guest experiences
- Oversee financial planning, budgets, forecasts, and CAPEX projects
- Lead and develop lodge teams and senior management staff
- Manage infrastructure, maintenance, and IT systems
- Oversee security, emergency response, and fire control procedures
- Ensure healthcare and evacuation protocols remain effective
- Manage environmental health, waste, sanitation, and pest control
- Liaise with government authorities and relevant stakeholders
- Support conservation and community partnership initiatives
- Drive sustainability goals and continuous improvement
- Ensure compliance with risk assessment standards
- Manage lodge social media platforms and internal communications
- Strengthen guest relationships and enhance the overall guest journey
