An urgent opportunity is available for a dependable and hands-on Junior Restaurant Manager to join a busy restaurant operation in Marshalltown, Johannesburg. This position is suited to a motivated hospitality professional who is ready to accept greater responsibility. Additionally, they will support the owner with daily service, administration and operational control.
The successful candidate will help ensure that the restaurant operates efficiently, and provides a welcoming guest experience. When the owner is absent, the Junior Restaurant Manager will be responsible for overseeing the operation. They will also guide employees, resolving routine challenges and ensuring that important tasks are completed.
Strong computer literacy is essential because the role includes preparing each invoice accurately. At the same time capturing information and maintaining organised administrative records will be imperative. Applicants must be responsible, confident and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Job Description & Requirements:
- Oversee daily restaurant operations whenever the owner is unavailable.
- Support front-of-house service and maintain professional guest service standards.
- Coordinate employees, allocate duties and monitor the daily workflow.
- Prepare invoices accurately and complete related administrative responsibilities.
- Use computer systems for recordkeeping, communication and operational reporting.
- Assist with stock monitoring, supplier communication and administrative follow-up.
- Address routine guest concerns and operational challenges professionally.
- Maintain organised records and provide the owner with important operational updates.
- Ensure restaurant procedures, cleanliness and service expectations are consistently followed.
- Previous restaurant, food service or relevant hospitality experience is essential.
- Supervisory experience or practical team leadership ability will be advantageous.
- Strong computer literacy and confidence working with invoices are required.
- Good communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Candidates must be responsible, presentable and able to work without constant supervision.
