A busy and well-established Grillhouse & Bar Restaurant in Bedfordview is looking for a passionate and motivated Junior Chef to join its kitchen team. This role is ideal for a chef who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in producing high-quality dishes, and is eager to further develop their culinary skills within a professional hospitality operation.
The successful candidate will assist with daily food preparation, ensure consistency in food quality and presentation, and support senior kitchen staff in maintaining high operational standards. This position requires someone who is organised, reliable, and able to perform well under pressure during busy service periods.
Job Description & Requirements:
- Maintain food quality, presentation, and portion control.
- Prepare and cook menu items to restaurant standards.
- Keep kitchen areas clean and organised.
- Follow food safety and hygiene procedures.
- Assist with stock control and stock rotation.
- Monitor food wastage and help minimise costs.
- Receive and store deliveries correctly.
- Work closely with the senior kitchen team.
- Ensure equipment is used and maintained responsibly
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume restaurant environment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable, punctual, and professional work ethic
- Passion for food and hospitality
- Previous kitchen or chef experience within a restaurant environment is essential
- Experience within a grillhouse, steakhouse, bar, or casual dining environment is advantageous
- Culinary training or relevant hospitality qualifications would be advantageous

- Salary: R15 000 per month, depending on experience
