A boutique hospitality group on the West Coast is seeking a Head of Gardens & Landscaping to oversee and elevate the outdoor spaces across its private resorts in Paternoster. This is a unique opportunity to combine horticultural expertise with luxury hospitality standards, ensuring that gardens and landscapes reflect the group’s commitment to sustainability, guest experience, and world‑class aesthetics.
Job Requirements
- Strong knowledge of indigenous and water‑wise West Coast gardens and landscaping
- Proven experience in landscaping or horticultural management within hospitality or luxury environments
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Knowledge of indigenous plants, sustainable landscaping, and irrigation systems
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem‑solving abilities
- Ability to balance creative design with operational efficiency
- Flexibility to oversee multiple resort properties and travel between sites
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement landscaping plans across all resorts to maintain luxury standards
- Design seasonal planting schedules that enhance guest experience and align with brand aesthetics
- Supervise gardening teams and external contractors to ensure consistent quality
- Conduct regular inspections of gardens, lawns, and outdoor spaces
- Oversee irrigation systems, soil health, and pest control measures
- Implement eco‑friendly landscaping practices, including water conservation and indigenous planting
- Coordinate with hospitality teams to prepare gardens for weddings, functions, and special occasions
- Manage landscaping budgets, procurement, and cost control
- Lead and motivate gardening staff, providing training on horticultural techniques and safety standards
