Introduction
An exciting opportunity is available for three enthusiastic Guides to join a hospitality team in Mahikeng. These live-in positions are suited to confident, service-minded individuals who enjoy working with guests, sharing local knowledge and creating memorable outdoor experiences. The successful candidates will support daily guiding activities while maintaining high standards of safety, professionalism and guest care.
Job Description & Requirements:

Welcome guests warmly and provide clear information about activities, schedules and the surrounding area.

Conduct engaging guided experiences suited to different guest interests, ages and fitness levels.

Share accurate, interesting information about local wildlife, landscapes, history and conservation.

Complete activity briefings and ensure that guests understand the relevant procedures and safety requirements.

Monitor guest comfort throughout each experience and respond calmly to questions, concerns or changing conditions.

Assist guests when entering and leaving vehicles or moving through activity areas.

Inspect guiding equipment and activity areas before use, reporting any damage, hazards or maintenance concerns.

Keep guiding vehicles, equipment and guest areas clean, organised and presentation-ready.

Work closely with reception, housekeeping, food and beverage and management teams to support smooth guest itineraries.

Communicate programme changes, special requests and guest feedback promptly to the appropriate department.

Assist with general operational duties when guiding schedules allow.

Maintain professional conduct and wear the supplied uniform appropriately while on duty.

Demonstrate a genuine interest in hospitality, nature, outdoor activities and guest engagement.

Strong spoken communication and storytelling skills are important for this guest-facing role.

A friendly, confident and approachable manner with the ability to interact with local and international guests.

Good observation skills and a responsible attitude towards guest safety, equipment and the environment.

Able to work flexible hospitality hours, including weekends, public holidays and early morning or evening activities.

Able to live and work as part of a close operational team.

Previous guiding, tourism or guest service experience would be advantageous.

Relevant guiding, first-aid, nature conservation or tourism qualifications would be advantageous.

Local knowledge of Mahikeng and the North West environment would be beneficial.
