Introduction
An exciting Field Guide opportunity is available at a well-established Lodge in the Karoo, Western Cape. This position is suited to a professional, enthusiastic and knowledgeable candidate with a genuine passion for Wildlife, nature and creating memorable guest experiences.
The successful Lodge Guide will lead guests on guided walks, drives and other lodge activities while sharing engaging and informative knowledge of the natural environment. This live-in opportunity is ideal for a reliable and well-presented Guide who enjoys working with people and consistently maintains excellent standards of safety, hospitality and professionalism.
In addition to guiding responsibilities, the Guide will assist with vehicle care, basic maintenance checks, daily cleaning duties and guest hosting in the restaurant. The successful candidate must work effectively with the broader Lodge team and be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Requirements
- Valid guiding qualifications are essential.
- Valid driver’s licence and Professional Driving Permit.
- Previous Lodge guiding experience is preferred.
- Genuine passion for nature, Wildlife and memorable guest experiences.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and guest engagement skills.
- Professional and well-presented at all times.
- Reliable, responsible, punctual and team-orientated.
- Willing to work flexible hours, weekends and public holidays.
- Able to conduct guided walks, drives and other Lodge activities.
- Committed to maintaining guest safety at all times.
- Able to complete vehicle checks and daily cleaning checklists.
- Willing to assist with guest hosting in the restaurant.
- Comfortable working in a live-in Lodge environment in the Karoo.
Package
- Salary dependent on experience and qualifications.
- Full-time, live-in position.
