An exciting opportunity is available for a passionate and energetic Field Guide to join a renowned 5-star safari lodge located within the Manyoni Private Game Reserve. This role is ideal for a well-rounded guide who is committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences while embracing a hands-on, team-focused approach to lodge operations.
As a Field Guide, you will serve as a frontline ambassador of the African bush, creating memorable and personalised safari experiences for guests. You will be responsible for conducting professional game drives, sharing your knowledge of wildlife and ecosystems, ensuring guest safety, and adapting each experience to suit individual guest interests and expectations. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable engaging with guests, interpreting animal behaviour, and supporting operational requirements behind the scenes.
Job Description & Requirements:
- Conduct professional and engaging game drives within a Big 5 environment
- Deliver informative and personalised wildlife experiences tailored to guests
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of guests at all times
- Interpret animal behaviour, tracks, signs and wilderness environments
- Maintain high standards of guest interaction and hospitality
- Assist with vehicle preparation and general guiding operations
- Support broader lodge operations when required
- Work closely with the hospitality team to provide seamless guest experiences
- Maintain professionalism and attention to detail in a luxury lodge environment
- Minimum FGASA Level 1 qualification (NQF Level 2)
- Valid and current First Aid certification
- Valid and current PDP
- Minimum one year’s guiding experience within a Big 5 reserve
- Previous experience within a 4-star lodge environment
- 5-star lodge experience would be advantageous
- Strong communication and guest engagement skills
- Team-oriented attitude with a willingness to assist across departments
- Ability to work in a dynamic wilderness environment

- Salary: R7000 – R8500 depending on experience
