As a Field Guide, you will be responsible for hosting interpretive nature experiences, conducting guided walks, sharing insights into the region’s unique flora and fauna, and ensuring guests receive outstanding service throughout their stay. The role requires an individual who is passionate about nature, committed to Conservation, and able to deliver engaging and informative experiences that reflect the high standards of a luxury Lodge and Reserve environment.
This position offers the chance to work alongside experienced hospitality and conservation professionals while building your guiding career within one of South Africa’s premier eco-tourism destinations.
Job Requirements
- FGASA qualification or equivalent guiding qualification
- Valid First Aid certification
- Valid Driver’s Licence and PDP advantageous
- Previous experience as a Guide within a luxury Lodge or Reserve environment
- Strong knowledge of local flora, fauna, birdlife, and ecosystems
- Passion for Conservation and environmental education
- Excellent guest interaction and communication skills
- Professional, well-presented, and service-oriented approach
- Ability to conduct guided nature walks and interpretive experiences
- Strong teamwork and organisational skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Additional languages advantageous
- Ability to deliver informative, engaging, and memorable guest experiences
- Positive attitude with a genuine enthusiasm for nature-based tourism
Package
- Salary from R12,000 to R24,500 per month, depending on qualifications and experience
