New Vacancy- Sous Chef  

Montagu, Western Cape 

Working alongside Head Chef and Management to manage daily kitchen activities, including overseeing staff, aiding with menu preparation, ensuring food quality and freshness, and monitoring ordering and stocking to ensure an excellent guest experience. To manage and run day to day operations (kitchen) in the absence of the Head Chef. 

Requirements 

  • Culinary Diploma 
  • 2 years experience as a CDP 
  • 5 years experience in a kitchen of a luxury establishment 
  • Proficient in the application of culinary good practice 
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office software applications. 
  • Proficient in 5-star hospitality styles of service 
  • Proficient in the application of culinary good practice 
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office software applications. 
  • Conversant with specialist terminology in the culinary field 
  • Ability to anticipate future circumstances, conditions and requests and use these scenarios to plan 
  • Ability to anticipate Guest needs and think up creative ways to meet these needs 
  • Ability to correctly communicate detailed information and instruction to others 
  • Ability to recognise safety or security concerns 
  • Time management for both yourself and the kitchen team. 
  • Able to delegate effectively, while taking on high priority tasks. 
  • Conversant with specialist terminology in the culinary field 
  • A formal management qualification 
  • Bachelor degree and/or diploma in Culinary Arts 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others in English, in written and verbal form. 
  • Ability to develop strategic direction for the kitchen and stewarding function to support organisational aims 
  • 8 Years’ experience in a culinary leadership role 
  • Demonstrated extensive previous experience in a luxury hotel, cruise or private residence environment 
  • Ability to influence leadership and management teams 
  • Ability to implement change and support people through times of transition 
  • Ability to develop innovative and creative food products 
  • Ability to oversee and simultaneously pay attention to a number of demands 
  • Proven ability to lead multiple teams 
  • High levels of verbal and numerical ability 
  • Ability to correctly communicate detailed information and instruction to others
