Sous Chef

5* Private Game Reserve- Grahamstown Area, Eastern Cape

Experienced and ambitious Sous Chef needed for a well-known name in the game lodge industry to provide excellent support and structure to this 5* kitchen.

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years previous chef experience in a 4/5* safari environment with 2 years minimum in a sous chef (senior) position
  • Cooking/Culinary and Hygiene qualifications (ESSENTIAL)
  • Computer literate (Microsoft OFFICE- Excel, Word, Outlook. Stock systems such as GAAP etc )
  • Valid South African Driver’s License
  • Good all-rounder- buffet, ala carte, pastry and baking very beneficial
  • Excellent and productive support to the Exec Chef- able to run the kitchen flawlessly when head chef is off duty
  • Proven track record of presentation- detail oriented
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure
  • Extremely hands on- ensures preparation of food and equipment is on time and up to standard, well prepared for service, running service from the front line, ensuring every plate is up to standard
  • Great team player who communicates effectively in the kitchen with fellow employees for a positive and professional atmosphere
  • Good understanding of culinary trends- knowledge on Food and Beverage pairings extremely beneficial
  • Excellent Knowledge of all dietary requirements
  • Exceptionally guest oriented- strives for guest satisfaction
  • Good knowledge and understanding of stock procedures and control- Follows and Implements wastage and variance control procedures- profit focused
  • Good knowledge of planning, budgeting, and departmental administration
  • Must be energetic and upbeat- set the example for staff on how to conduct oneself in the workplace

 

Package on offer

  • Salary: R15 000 D.O.E
  • Accommodation (no dependents or pets) Candidates from the Eastern Cape would be great as you need to vacate the premises on cycle
