Resort General Manager

5* Resort (pre-opening) – Mozambique

Please note: Only Experienced candidates from SADC countries will be considered due to logistics

An exciting new position has opened up for an exceptionally experienced General Manager who can manage and exceed 5* standards in a remote African Environment. Experience in Pre-opening will be essential, as this project will be very hands on in every aspect.

 

Requirements

  • A business degree, hotel or hospitality management qualification is essential for permits
  • Have a minimum of 10+ years hospitality experience, of which at least 5 years should have been at a senior operations management level- lodge/resort or boutique hotel experience preferred
  • Must have strong luxury Southern African Continent 5* hospitality experience in REMOTE settings- understands how to trouble shoot in this environment.
  • As mentioned, strong pre-opening experience will be needed as this hotel is only opening next year
  • Can follow direction- make sure the brand standard is upheld as set out by the umbrella company
  • Excellent people’s person for staff and guests- Is a real part of the team on every level.
  • Excellent communication skills in English- Written and Verbal. Portuguese would be extremely beneficial
  • Hard working and passionate- understands hospitality hours and pressure and must relish the challenge of a job well done.
  • Strong financial acumen- Able to complete the full daily financial function- reports, budgets, debtors, creditors, forecasts, etc
  • Strong leadership skills with critical attention to detail in standards
  • Excellent overall knowledge in 5* resort operations- F&B, Housekeeping, FOH etc
  • Experience in Sales and Marketing- Can drive a creative concept forward and market on all relevant platforms
  • Experience in Health and Safety Compliance and can manage the full function of the HR department with legislation compliance
  • Hands on, leads from the front type- Sets the example for the other staff and creates a great working environment

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures the smooth running of the hotel, where all areas of the business are managed and the guest service experience is delivered to the highest levels
  • Works with key stakeholders, effectively manages and reviews the life cycle of the team within the hotel, fostering a culture of growth, development and performance
  • Driver of the hotel budget, business and sales plan, ensuring that all areas of the business are controlled.
  • Maximizing sales and profit, business opportunities and brand reputation, productivity and performance
  • Ensures adherence and compliance to all legislation where due diligence requirements and best practice activities are planned, delivered and documented for internal and external audit, performing follow-up as required
  • Commitment to exceptional guest service with a passion for the hospitality industry
  • Ability to find creative solutions, offering advice and recommendations
  • Personal integrity, with the ability to work in an environment that demands excellence, time and energy
  • Experienced in using IT systems on various platforms
