Hospitality and Outdoor – New Vacancy – Field Guide  

Zululand, Kwa-Zulu Natal 

A big 5 property is looking for a charismatic individual to join their team.  This is a self-catering property, where guide is included in the accommodation rate.  This is a hands-on position and would be good for an eager, young and vibey guide. 

Requirements 

• Matric 

• FGASA Level 1 (Level 2 is a bonus) 

• Back up trails (advantageous) 

• First Aid (up to date) 

• Driver’s License (up to date) + PDP (up to date) + Own Car 

• DEAT registered 

• Birding knowledge or willingness to learn more about birds. 

• Past guiding experience advantageous. 

• Being fluent in English IS A MUST – beneficial to converse in Afrikaans and Zulu. 

• Passionate about wildlife and guest experience. 

Description 

• Conduct game drives 

• Assist guests with braai in the evenings 

• Pour drinks for guests and help clear plates on some days 

• Perform maintenance work when there are no guests 

• Assist the reserve with conservation work when guests book activities 

• Conduct patrols on the reserve 

• Assist in other departments, providing an opportunity to learn more about the industry and develop diverse skills  

• Enjoys working with children. 

Package on offer 

• Available upon application 

• Live-in position (includes bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen) 

• 3 weeks on, 7 days off, plus 15 days annual leave. 

• Uniform provided 

• Food is not included (however guides often eat with guests)
