5 Star – Big 5 – Private Game Reserve 

Rural Grahamstown, Eastern Cape 

Requirements 

• FGASA NQF 2/ nature conservation/ environmental education qualification.   

• 1 year experience with dealing with big 5 game and volunteers 

• EB driver’s license with a PDP (passengers) 

• SASETTA firearms competency 

• First aid certificate (valid) 

• DEAT and FGASA registered 

• Able to drive safely in 4 x 4  

• People orientated personality 

• Good knowledge on ecological management on a game reserve 

• QGIS mapping (advantageous) 

Description 

• Lead and conduct conservation projects, maintenance (roads/ fences/ alien vegetation/ soil erosion) and fauna and flora monitoring with volunteers.   

• Give lectures on various nature-based topics 

• Responsible for the maintenance and up keep of vehicles and equipment/ assets 

• Participate in local community projects 

• Work in conjunction with the wildlife department 

• Work independently and unsupervised for the majority of the time.
